In politics, Prince Georges County Executive Angela Alsobrooks will put a youth curfew law for those age 17 & under into effect this weekend as part of the effort to curb juvenile violence. This is as she stated, “hugs and warnings” for offending juveniles aren’t enough, “they need to be held accountable.” In other news, the LGBTQ Victory Fund, a federal PAC, scored money from many familiar names in D.C. politics, seemingly to avoid direct ties to Ward 1 Council Candidate Salah Czapary.
In general news, D.C. residents can receive their flu shot and Covid-19 booster at the same time starting next week. Meanwhile, Arlington, VA has put in their bid of $23 million to have Amazon HQ2 in their city.
In disturbing news, Baltimore City issued a boil water advisory to some city and county users after E-coli was found in the drinking water.
Ironically, D.C. becomes the first city in the U.S. where you can pick up your Amazon packages from the police stations. This is due to the high volume of packages being stolen.
Metro just got permission to run more 7000-Series trains, and they are coming to the Red Line. Speaking of Metro, they have spent millions of dollars installing new fare gates but sources say they may have to change them again soon.
In sports, DMV’s own Frances Tiafoe became the youngest American man to reach a U.S. Open Quarterfinal in 16 years. Clap it up for the DMV greatness we’re seeing happening across the world.
In entertainment, “MJ The Musical”, starring DMV’s own Myles Frost has broken the Neil Simon Theatre box office record for the 5th time!
D.C.’s own Regina Hall graces the cover of Bust Magazine and it’s beyond beautiful. It’s a historic day for Ari Lennox as her new album “Age/Sex/Location” is out now.
