The DC Black Film Festival (DCBFF), a beacon for filmmakers of African descent, is calling for submissions for its 2024 edition. DCBFF is dedicated to showcasing a rich array of films, web series, and television content by and about people of African descent. The festival offers a platform for artists of all ethnicities, requiring at least one key decision-maker or performer in each film to be of African descent. Filmmakers are invited to submit their work in various categories including Narrative Features, Documentary Features, Shorts, Web Series, Animation, Experimental, Children’s Films, and Student Films. Open to films of any genre except adult films and in any language (with English subtitles), the festival embraces a global perspective.
Critical submission deadlines include an Early Bird Deadline on January 31, 2024, Regular Deadline on February 29, Late Deadline on March 31, and an Extended Deadline on April 20, 2024. All submissions must be in English or subtitled in English, and student filmmakers must provide a valid ID and school e-mail.
