Happy Black History Month + Our 50th Episode! (Season Finale)

Welcome to the 50th episode of What’s Going On D.C. and it’s also #BlackHistoryMonth! As we wrap up this season on Bridge TV, I welcome you to another week of all things DMV and celebrating our greatness.

Great news for the football lovers in D.C., our beloved football team finally has a name, “The Washington Commanders”. What do you all think? In not-so-good news, NBC4 anchor Leon Harris was arrested for a DUI after a car crash. The anchor was driving along River Rd. when he struck another car. Ouch!

Recording Artist, Fat Trel, sent his fans another message saying that he will be home soon. Is the DMV is ready for his return?

Taraji Taraji Taraji! Our southeast queen is getting to the bag as she has reportedly been cast as Shug Avery in the music adaption of The Color Purple. Also, her hair products, TPH by Taraji, are officially in all of our favorite stores.

Another queen from the area, DMV’s own Trap Bob, was commissioned to reimagine Yahoo’s logo for Black History Month. Shoutout to our girl making amazing waves! If you forgot, she is an honoree for our DMV’s 35 Under 35.

In other news, Mayor Bowser plans to use eminent domain to bring a grocery store to the long-vacant Capitol Gateway site in Ward 7. What do you think?

In celebration of Black History Month, take a look at a message from our Publisher and the boss lady, Denise Rolark Barnes, now on BridgeTV. While you’re there, also check out a video about some of the important landmarks in Washington, D.C., courtesy of The Washington Informer.

Just in from D.C. Now Events, the famous McDowells from our favorite movie “Coming To America”, is making its way to the DMV for a pop-up. Head to D.C. Now Events Instagram page for more details.

Lastly, Broccoli City Weekend is back! This year they’re hosting a two-day festival featuring 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Gunna, Summer Walker, Tems, Wizkid, Muni Long, and more! You can also see DMV’s own, Masego, Wale, Ari Lennox, Alex Vaughn, and Rico Nasty. Tickets are on sale now. Find out more at BCFestival.com.

Well, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. This sums up What’s Going On D.C. Follow me @TheMediaPrince on everything and follow the hashtag #WGODC. Thank you for supporting us on our season finale and 50th episode! Stay tuned for more to come!
