We are back for another epic week of What’s Going On D.C.? So, let’s get started with all things D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. 

In politics, the Montgomery County Council unanimously confirmed the appointment of Dr. Kisha Davis as County Health Officer on Tuesday. In Frederick County history was made! They elected the first African American member to the County Council. Congratulations to Councilmember Kavonte Duckett!

The D.C. Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a sweeping overhaul of the city’s century-old criminal code. Among other changes, it updates the definition of criminal offenses and eliminates most mandatory sentences. 

In general news, The D.C. Housing Authority allegedly awarded nearly $1 million in sole-source contracts to a local software company, violating federal rules and its own policies, according to an internal audit. On the flip side, enrollment in D.C. Public Schools is the highest since 2007 when counting began, officials said.

They even are auctioning off old stadium seats. The Silver Line is officially open. Metro is just out here shining and really getting us everywhere!

In sports, the D.C. Attorney General, Karl Racine, is suing The Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder and the NFL. Ouch! While on the Commanders, you can vote now for the 2023 Pro Bowl. Also in sports, the Washington Wizards launched the Peace Tees campaign to help prevent gun violence.
