THFCTRY, an emerging discovery platform in the DMV area, has launched a new mixtape series in collaboration with NTS Radio titled “THFCTRY RESET.” This series is a one-hour monthly iOS update showcasing the dynamic sounds originating from Washington, DC. Hosted by co-creators Matt Jackson and Avery “The Shogun Supreme,” the series highlights the vibrant music scene in the DMV area, featuring artists from the inner sections of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The mixtape offers an immersive experience, presenting a unique blend of the best and brightest talents from the region.
The first installment of “THFCTRY RESET” is now live on NTS Radio. This one-hour mix features an impressive lineup of DMV artists and producers, including Kelow LaTesha, Gray The Greatest, Tommy Richman, JMack, El Cousteau, Shann, Dreamcast Moe, DJ BRI Mafia, JJJ Marz, WiFiGawd, Blaxian, Mekdelawit Fekadu, Azizi Gibson, Spizzledoe, Low Bo, Reup Nelson, Yvngxchris, Lil Xelly, Sparkheem, Nymani, Joony, Kin Rose Gold, Mundane, Godzilla Supreme, Akeem Mimiko, and Tony Kill. The mixtape is expertly curated and recorded, with executive production by Svets17 and engineering by Reggie Prime. The art direction is handled by IMKA.
THFCTRY was founded by Matt Jackson and Avery Showell, two Bowie natives passionate about the DMV music scene. Their journey began with a blog created while Showell was still a student at Bowie High School. Their shared interest in promoting up-and-coming acts led to the creation of “Thank You For Not Snitching,” a college radio show they started while attending Salisbury University. This show allowed them to broadcast the artists they were writing about, combining their blog, Twitter presence, and the support of their community to build a trusted platform for the DMV’s music landscape.
