On Saturday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Malcolm X Park will transform into a sanctuary of communal rest and creative activation as |än ‘mas| media presents its latest offering, Frolic in the Park—a 12-hour celebration of movement, mindfulness, music, and mutual care in the heart of Washington, DC.
More than just an event, Frolic in the Park is a living experience—an open invitation to explore new ways of replenishing together. Designed with deep intention and joy, the day-long gathering will feature an expansive lineup: from sunrise Pilates and soul-nourishing tarot readings to live DJ sets, intimate sound baths, and expressive portraits amidst a blooming floral installation by The Watering Can.
Highlights include:
- Pilates sessions to activate the body
- Live taping of “Wake N Bake with BeMo” – a podcast rooted in solution-based thinking from a “Black-ass perspective”
- Tarot & energy work
- DJ sets & live musical performances
- T-shirt upcycling & rope play education
- “A Flower in the Woods” – a floral photo activation celebrating connection
- Portrait sessions by local DMV photographers
“This isn’t a festival, it’s a frolic,” organizers say. “It’s communal rest in motion.”

The vibe? Come as you are, leave when you like. Bring what you need to feel grounded—whether that’s a blanket, yoga mat, snack bowl, your favorite game, or a good book. Want to do Pilates? Bring a mat. Want to upcycle a shirt? Bring one. Want to lay under the trees with a friend and listen to beats in the breeze? You’re in the right place.
This is a BYOB event—blankets, bottles, bowls, blunts. All are welcome. No RSVP, no gatekeeping, no entry fee. Donations are encouraged and go directly to the creatives and practitioners who are cultivating the experience. “Come have an experience with us and decide on your donation after,” says the team at |än ‘mas|.
Frolic in the Park reflects a growing cultural shift toward healing-centered community spaces. At a time when data collection and ticketing systems are the norm, Frolic rejects the transactional. “We are not interested in your data to share future updates,” organizers write. “We are interested in your presence. Showing up is enough.”
Whether you’re looking to stretch, vibe, connect, or simply be, Frolic in the Park offers a rare chance to gather in joy and rest—on your own terms.
No tickets. No algorithms. Just vibes.
