Nex Cubed has launched its HBCU Founders Accelerator, a 16-week intensive program targeting entrepreneurs affiliated with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The accelerator aims to support startups that leverage technology to tackle societal challenges.

The program will be conducted primarily online and include a cohort of 8-10 startups. Each selected company will receive an initial investment of $120,000 and will benefit from executive-level support provided by paid advisors. The accelerator begins in July 2024 and will culminate in an in-person demo day in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Eligibility for the program requires that at least one founding team member be an HBCU student, alum, or faculty member. Additionally, the company must have a proof of concept or a minimum viable product (MVP) that is either in the market or close to commercialization. Applications for Cohort 3 are open until May 31, 2024, at 11:59 PM EST.

The program starts with goal-setting discussions, developing a work plan, and identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress. Throughout the 16 weeks, each startup will receive dedicated support to foster a collaborative and productive environment.

Nex Cubed, known for its commitment to uplifting underrepresented founders and underserved communities, has invested in over 90 portfolio companies and accelerated more than 225 startups since its inception in 2017. The firm’s global network includes corporate partners, investment partners, strategic advisors, and mentors. Nex Cubed’s portfolio companies have an aggregate value exceeding a billion dollars, with nearly 65% led by underrepresented founders.
