Grounded, a Washington, DC-based plant shop, cafe, and wellness studio, announces its annual “Grounded Earth Week 2024” under the theme “Green Future.” This event promises a week of activities designed to integrate urban living with nature and promote a sustainable lifestyle.
The week begins with a foraging hike in Takoma Park, led by expert Matt Cohen, where participants will learn about local flora. The adventure continues with a fishing trip in Pasadena, Maryland, focusing on environmental stewardship. The culinary highlight is a plant-based cooking class at The Arc DC, where chef Kendra Hazel will teach attendees to prepare veggie spring rolls with local ingredients.
Physical activities include the Grounded Climb Night at DC Bouldering Project, offering climbing challenges and sustainability lessons. A special Earth Day event will feature family-friendly activities and plant care workshops in partnership with the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum. Additionally, an indigo plant dyeing workshop at THEARC farm will explore the sustainable practices of this ancient art.

Yoga enthusiasts can rejuvenate at a session in Anacostia Park, led by CorePower Yoga and Boxed Water. The session emphasizes wellness and environmental consciousness. The week culminates with the “Green Future Gala,” marking the opening of Grounded’s new store and a celebration of sustainable community achievements.
The week also includes “National Gallery Nights: Flowers After Hours” at the National Gallery of Art, a festive evening celebrating spring with dance, art, and a flower-themed scavenger hunt.
Grounded Earth Week invites DC’s young professionals to engage in activities that foster ecological awareness and connection to nature. Tickets are available now, with more details on Grounded’s website and social media.
